Simple, yet so strange

Here’s a great simple quote from Lord Buddha:

“You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere.
You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection.”
– Lord Buddha

Give it a second thought and please explain it to me what does this mean.  I am sure it’s not about being selfish or getting self-praised.  If you’re the deserving one then who actually is the provider/giver?
